Daren Young experienced what he likes to describe as a mid-life "reawakening" in January 2004. After a 20-year business career, he decided to return to his first love of artmaking on a full-time basis.
In August 2008, Daren received an MFA in Visual Art from Vermont College of Fine Arts. He also received a BFA with an emphasis in painting/drawing from the University of Utah, graduating magna cum laude in May 2006.
Daren specializes in both figurative and landscape paintings and drawings with a leaning towards stylized realism. He works in a variety of two-dimensional media including oil, acrylic, watercolor, graphite, Prismacolor pencil, charcoal and pastel. Daren also enjoys printmaking, working primarily in intaglio.
